Alldocube Kbook Review

Alldocube is a Shenzhen-based company that has been making tech gear since 2004, and this time it has created a Windows 10 ultrabook.

This laptop comes in a large cardboard box with the brand name on the front. The company address, phone number, and official website are on the back of the box, in both Chinese and English. I can also see how they emphasize recycling with various stamps.

Inside, on one side, there is another small elongated cardboard box where the charger is divided into two parts: the cable with the plug for the Chinese plug and the transformer with the pin of the laptop to a 12V output to 3A. However, according to the manufacturer’s website, the load is carried out at 2.5A.

Occupying practically the entire box and protected on the sides with a rigid white sponge is the laptop. I was surprised that it did not carry a start guide or any paper with the product specifications. Although most people ignore it, I think they should include it.

Alldocube Kbook Review : Design and Screen

In the same way that it happens with most manufacturers that make ultrabooks, this Alldocube Kbook aesthetically reminds me of the design of Apple’s MacBook Air. A careful plan and aesthetic made of light gray metal, although with a rougher or rougher touch.

It has seemed to me that despite its reduced dimensions of: 31.23 x 23.8 x 1.54 cm, it has a considerable weight of 1.5 Kg. It is not alarming because it is below average if we compare it with other laptops. Still, if we look at other “ultrabooks” that tend to have an increasingly reduced weight and that lately do not usually reach 1.3 Kg, I have to say that it is pretty noticeable. In addition, the charger has an additional 220 grams of weight.

It has a 13.5-inch IPS screen with a resolution of 3000×2000 pixels and a small frame. The density of pixels per inch stands at 268. It has a good screen with good brightness.

The bottom of the laptop is metallic, with the model name and some quality labels engraved on the surface. In the corners, it has black silicone bumpers to place the computer on a table and prevent it from moving and scratching. I can also clearly see how it is protected around it with 14 star-shaped screws to control access to the device’s hardware.

On the left side is a USB 3.0 port, the DC IN power input, and a USB Type C port. Another USB 3.0 port and the 3.5mm audio jack socket are on the right side.

As for the keyboard of this Alldocube KBook, it should be noted that it has a QWERTY keyboard layout without the letter “ñ.” We can configure the keyboard in Spanish, which is how I have it, but it is still uncomfortable. There are some silicone stickers or covers that are put on the keyboard to be able to see it with the keyboard layout that we have chosen.

The keys are reasonably large, and there is a good separation between them. The trackpad is large and not as smooth as I would like. In addition, I am not convinced by the large surface where we can “click.” I want to comment that it has gestures enabled by default on the “trackpad,” which is very useful if we usually use them. For example, if we slide down with two fingers, we “scroll” on the screen, or if we use three fingers, we go to another desktop.

Software

The operating system that this Alldocube Kbook comes with is Windows 10 Home 64-bit, so if everything goes well, we will receive the official security updates from Microsoft, as has happened once I started it.

The version of the Operating System comes with several pre-installed languages such as Spanish, English, Chinese or Russian. In addition, I liked finding a clean installation free of software and advertising programs such as applications from eBay, Amazon, AliExpress, etc., which are included by some manufacturers and which I recommend uninstalling at the beginning.

When running the Windows Defender antivirus, it has not detected any threat that could risk the user’s security. In addition, and for the skeptics who do not believe in the protection provided by this antivirus, I have installed an evaluation version of the best antivirus 2019 according to PCWorld, and the result has been identical.

I will leave a video showing how I have initialized the Alldocube Kbook with Windows 10.

Finally, and something that I considered extremely important and did not like at all is that on the second day of use, it put me on the screen that I had to activate Windows. Well, I retrieved the Windows key from the Alldocube KBook and tried to enter it again, and I haven’t been able to start it.

Camera

The WebCam of this Alldocube KBook is 2Mpx with a face detector.

In good lighting, the quality of the photograph, although not good, is permissible; we do not usually use the webcam too much for this purpose, so I would not give it too much importance. However, it can be seen that as soon as the lighting in the area decreases, a lot of noise appears, and the result is appalling.

Next, I will leave you three images with different lighting environments to see the result. I will also show you a small video of the recording quality.

Alldocube Kbook Review: Power and Hardware

It has pretty basic and current hardware. The processor is a dual-core Intel Core m3-6Y30 with speeds ranging from 900MHz to 2.2GHz. It is a 64bit processor manufactured in 14nm.

In addition, it uses its own integrated graphics processor Intel HD Graphics 515 at 850MHz maximum speed and 8GB LPDDR3 RAM integrated into the plate that you will not be able to replace or expand. I think using faster and more efficient memories would have been better.

As for internal storage, a comment that it has a 512 GB SSD hard drive, which seems ideal for this type of laptop and practically for all ultrabooks on the market. With it, the operating system and all the programs that we install run more smoothly than if it were a traditional HDD. If we need more storage, you can always carry 2.5-inch portable hard drives, USB flash drives, or hire a cloud service.

As with this type of computer, it behaves pretty well; however, it is not designed to install many programs or games, as they could slow down the laptop. I believe that it is designed to work with office automation programs, surf the net and enjoy controlled multimedia content and I say this because of what you will read below.
