Realme 8 Pro Review

Realme officially announced the launch of the Realme 8 Pro, its new mid-range phone that comes stomping and loaded with everything you need to take on rivals like Xiaomi and Oppo. The most notable feature of the phone is a 108-megapixel primary camera, the first of this size used by the company.

But this is not the only thing with which Realme wants to position its Realme 8 Pro at the top of the mid-range. If you want to know everything this phone offers, keep reading because I will tell you next.

a correct potency

This phone is mid-range, but in terms of performance, it is pretty surprising. It has a Snapdragon 720G processor (the same as the Realme 7 Pro) accompanied by 6 or 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. In everyday use, when navigating through menus, using the camera, internet, and social networks, the device works smoothly. This is something that I was even able to corroborate with multitasking or when trying games with high demand for resources. When I used it, there were no sudden closures of applications or “hangs.”

If power is essential, autonomy is no less. The Realme 8 Pro has a 4,500 mAh battery with a 65 W SuperDart Charge fast charging system (the compatible charger is included in the box). With moderate use, the phone’s battery lasted up to a day and a half without needing to be charged, but the best thing is that the charge was completed from 0 to 100 in just over 35 minutes, so I never feared running out of battery.

Realme’s first 108 megapixels are appreciated

In the photographic section, the phone has four cameras with a 108-megapixel primary sensor, an 8-megapixel wide-angle sensor, and two 2-megapixel sensors, one macro, and one monochrome, to improve portrait mode.

As we can see in the gallery, the Realme 8 Pro camera gave excellent results, with an outstanding level of brightness and detail in natural light. Portraits also look sharp and cropping, while a bit artificial at times and confused by tricky textures like hair or glasses, worked well too.

The photos in night mode present quite a few improvements compared to the previous generation; the result is pretty clean shots with contained light sources in most situations. The 108-megapixel sensor has a dedicated section to activate it within the camera application. Thanks to this mode, you can get very high-resolution images. However, it would be best to deactivate it when you are not using it since storing such large images can saturate the device’s memory.

The 16-megapixel front camera gives very natural, sharp, and bright photos. The portrait mode here is also quite natural, although, as with the primary camera, it is sometimes confused with hair or glasses.
Realme 8 Pro

If we start from the idea that the Realme 8 Pro is a device whose price starts at 279 euros for the 6 GB RAM version with 128 GB storage, it is clear that it is a balanced phone that offers a lot at a price. Very competitive. In the market, it will find compelling rivals, such as the also recently presented POCO F3 from Xiaomi (with Snapdragon 870 and 120 Hz for less than 350 euros), but that does not prevent the Realme 8 Pro from being one of the most mid-range exciting things you can find right now.

off-road design

The design of this device is far from that found in the Realme 7 Pro. These differences are especially noticeable on the back for two reasons: the finish in a matte material that is very pleasant to the touch and the grip, which has screen printing the brand emblem, “Dare to Leap.” Second, the camera module is no longer a traffic light. To become a square that houses its four lenses and the LED flash.

I liked the design because it is almost impossible for fingerprints or dust to adhere to the back, so I have been able to use it without a cover all the time.

In general, it is a very light and comfortable phone in hand thanks to its dimensions of 170.7 x 73.9 x 8.1 centimeters and a weight of 197 grams. The screen is a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED with Full HD + resolution (2,400 x 1,080) perforated on the left side to house the 16-megapixel front camera, which is also responsible for managing the facial recognition system.

The device houses its fingerprint sensor under the screen, which is not usually seen in equipment in this price range. The sensor responds quickly, although sometimes it tends to make mistakes if we do not put the fingerprint completely.

pros

Clean and comfortable design in hand, either.
 Good autonomy.
 Fast charge.
 Competitive price.

Cons

It does not have wireless charging.
It does not have an audio jack connector.
Same processor as the previous model.
