It has been several months since this terminal known as Realme GT was presented. It has shown us longer than expected, but we already have it here to analyze it and check if the features are worth its price.
This time we have taken advantage of an offer from our bargains section to get the Realme GT and thus save a few euros.
The case of this Realme is black with the model name on the top and a small 5G logo. An Android sticker appears on one of the sides, and below are the characteristics of the terminal. It can be seen that it has the CE (European Conformity) symbol that indicates that it meets the legal and technical minimums in terms of safety to market it in Europe.
As soon as we open it, we find the terminal wrapped in plastic wrap. There is a box, and inside it comes an instruction guide, the key to open the SIM card slot, a flexible and transparent cover.
Below we have the current charger (Spanish version) from 5V to 2A / 10V to 6.5A 65W of power and a USB to USB type C cable.
Also, add headphones.
Next, I will leave you the unboxing of this phone.
software
This new terminal is updated to Android 11 under the RealmeUI 2.0 customization layer.
It is a “Global” ROM / operating system with automatic updates via OTA (notifications) and Google services installed. It includes Google Play, YouTube, Maps, Gmail … and various sponsored applications such as Facebook, Aliexpress, Netflix, Amazon … These apps can be easily uninstalled one by one.
Review Realme GT
There are also native Android applications such as the calculator or the task manager. It does not include a native application to use the FM radio.
This ROM includes the main languages of the world, including Basque, Catalan, and Galician, and many customization settings. For example, you can customize the home screen with different icons and transitions in the “customize” menu. On the other hand, you can also customize the application grid (setting it to be 5×6 or less) and if we want to use an application drawer to have them all together.
As for the functionalities that we find in the settings menu, the one that stands out the most is the possibility of configuring the screen refresh rate at 120Hz. In addition, the touch sampling rate is 360Hz. This gives a greater sense of fluidity when moving through applications or menus.
Mention that being a Super AMOLED screen, and you can configure the “Always on-display” so that the lock screen remains on with the time. This provides greater convenience when looking at the time on the phone.
It also allows us to use a light or dark theme and adapt the screen to warmer or cooler colors to adjust our visual comfort.
It has a game mode, “Game Turbo,” that optimizes the terminal for a high-performance mode avoiding annoying notifications and improving the data network.
Also, there is an option (as in Linux systems) to increase RAM by taking advantage of storage memory. With this, we can get up to an extra 5GB of RAM, reaching 13GB. Although this memory is usually slower than LPDDR5 type memory, I do not use it all the time.
This terminal has the Widevine L1 security level that allows you to play Netflix, HBO, or Prime Video applications at maximum resolution, so the screen will be the one that marks the maximum quality (FHD +).
After passing the Malwarebytes antivirus, it has not detected any malicious application.
It is a complete operating system worthy of the largest manufacturers.
Design and Materials
This new phone maintains a very traditional design and is very similar to its more direct rivals.
It measures 73.3mm wide, 158.5mm high, and is 8.4mm thick, making it quiet its weight is 186 g. It is made of plastic and together with its blue color makes it very elegant. I also liked that its size is smaller and lighter.
The front part stands out for its narrow frames and its small hole in the screen on the left side. The usable screen area is 84%.
It mounts a 6.43-inch Super AMOLED panel with a Full HD + resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and a density of 543 pixels per inch. The aspect ratio remains at 21: 9. These characteristics make the screen of great quality.
As for resistance, it does not have any certificate. It does not have Corning Gorilla Glass to avoid scratches or any water resistance certification.
The screen quality is very good, and the colors are very vivid (98% NTSC). The gloss is very good, and you don’t need to strain your eyes. In addition, through this, the operating system can calibrate the screen colors.
Unlike the latest terminals from other brands, this Realme GT keeps the fingerprint reader on the screen. It works quickly and precisely, and you don’t have to press (just resting your finger is enough).
Facial recognition is also very fast; even though sunglasses or a mask it does not recognize us.
The rear is very elegant. It has a linear gradient towards the center that reflects the light and makes it very striking.
On the other hand, there is a module with three vertical cameras in the upper left area. On the right, there is a double led flash. The camera module protrudes a millimeter from the body of the phone. (That is why I recommend putting the TPU case).
In this same rear part, and right in the line of the cameras, comes the Realme brand logo and the CE logo.
The edges of the back are slightly curved to make it more comfortable to grip.
The sides are a bit different than what I am used to. On the right side, it has an on and off button, and on the contrary, the left side has the slot for the SIM card tray and the volume up and down button.
At the bottom, it has the 3.5mm Jack connector for the headphones, the USB type C (reversible), the stereo speaker, the microphone. The top is empty.
Power and Hardware
Since this phone was introduced, it has been one of the most powerful on the market. To get an idea and to be able to compare it, we have subjected it to the AnTuTu Benchmark version 9.1.3 performance test, achieving a score of 819,495. This test has been carried out with the phone practically empty and with an 85% battery.
Currently, this Realme has the best processor on the market, the 8-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 with a maximum speed of 2.84GHz. It is a chip with a 64-bit architecture manufactured in 5nm, accompanied by a Qualcomm Adreno 660 GPU graphics card. It is a perfect configuration designed to obtain maximum performance, regardless of the low price it has.
This terminal has 2 versions:
8GB of RAM / 128GB of storage
12GB of RAM / 256GB of storage
AnTuTu Test
I have the simplest version of 8GB of LPDDR5 type RAM and 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage memory for a higher data access speed.
The Realme GT Master Edition version is slightly less powerful (and cheaper) and features a Snapdragon 778G processor capable of obtaining 541,000 AnTuTu points.
After being subjected to a speed test, it has obtained a maximum reading speed of 246 MB / s and 249 MB / s writing using the RAM. On the other hand, the reading speed is 1660 MB / s and 729 MB / s writing for the storage memory.
It does not have an expansion slot for memory cards.
