Umidigi Power Review

Like other terminals of this brand, this phone comes in a black cardboard box with the brand on top and a sticker with the main features on the bottom.

As we open it, the first thing that stands out is a card with social networks and a small thank you message. We also see an envelope with the key for the card slot and some user manuals. Below is the phone with a printed screen protector, and further down, we find a USB type C cable of approximately 1m in length and a power adapter with the CE marking. It is a 5V charger with 2A output.

Design and Screen

This Umidigi Power follows all manufacturers’ classic design: an “infinity” screen with tiny frames and a drop-style notch at the top.

In terms of dimensions, it is a terminal with 74.5 mm width, 157.0 mm height, and a thickness of 8.9 mm. This may seem excessive, but it is made of plastic and polycarbonates and has a total weight of 192g. The truth is that it is neither big nor heavy.

As for the colors, there are two models: one in black and the other in light gold with the back in a matte finish that gives it a simple look.

As we have already mentioned, the front part is 83% screen. It has a 6.3″ LTPS LCD panel with a Full HD+ resolution of 1340 x 1080 pixels and a pixel density per inch of 409. It is a 2.5D screen with rounded corners. The aspect ratio remains at 19.5:9.

The quality of the screen is excellent, and the light colors are very intense. The brightness and contrast are excellent, although sometimes (and when the sun shines directly on the screen), you may have to strain your eyes or look for a shadow to see correctly.

The rear part is made of plastic, polycarbonate, and matte black, making it easy to get dirty and revealing finger marks. The upper left leg has two cameras placed vertically with an LED flash below, and in the center, it has a fingerprint reader without relief. It works well and is capable of unlocking the phone instantly.

At the bottom, it has the European Conformity (CE) certificate that indicates that it meets the minimum requirements to market in Europe. The sides are curved.

Most devices on the right side are the volume up and down button and the power button. These buttons are plastic but have no clearance. On the contrary, on the left side is a slot for the nano SIM cards and the micro-SD storage card.

At the bottom, you have the USB type C (reversible), the speaker and the microphone on the left, and the 3.5mm Jack connector for headphones on the right. The top edge is empty.

Power and Hardware

Due to its price, this phone does not stand out for its power. But to get an idea of the total power of this device, we have run the AnTuTu Benchmark v7 performance test as it comes from the factory (i.e., without installed applications). The result has been 85,509. With this score, we can say that it is a low-end and straightforward phone.

This terminal has a MediaTek Helio P35 MT6765 8-core processor (4 × Cortex A53 2.3GHz + 4 × Cortex A53 1.8GHz) with a maximum operating speed of 2.3GHz. It is a chip with a 12-nanometer 64-bit architecture accompanied by a PowerVR GE8320 graphics card.

This model has 4GB of LPDDR3 type RAM and 64GB of storage memory, the only existing configuration. After undergoing a speed test, the result has been 5695 MB/s with RAM and a value of 208MB/s for reading and 147MB/s for writing on internal storage. These values are lower than on other phones.

Software

This Umidigi Power comes with Android 9 Pie without any customization layer. It is a multilanguage Android Stock version that includes Spanish, Euskera, Catalan, and Galician.

It is a global ROM (operating system) with Google services, including the following applications: YouTube, Gmail, Maps, Drive, Duo (to make video calls)… In addition, it also brings native applications such as a calculator, a file explorer, a sound recorder, and FM Radio without the need for the internet.

In terms of operation, it is a simple terminal with an application drawer where all the applications will appear. In addition, the main menu is structured by icons, and in its upper area, we find a search engine and a list of suggestions. We also can configure the navigation buttons to our liking.

But as always, it is convenient to review the Frequency Checker tool to discover if this terminal is compatible with your country’s networks and thus avoid surprises.

As seen in the screenshots, the connectivity is good (even with the speed tests), although after doing a test to receive the 4G signal with my operator (Vodafone), the band assigned to me was B3.

The WiFi works well, and it has the IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n protocols for 2.4GHz networks and the IEEE 802.11n protocol for 5Ghz networks. After performing a power test 10 meters from the router, the result is average, obtaining a stable connection all the time. In addition, with the 5Ghz network, we can avoid interference with other devices.

It has a dual Dual SIM slot for two nano SIM cards, although it does not have the possibility of double 4G, so we will have to choose which card we want to use the data with.

And among the most common functions, it has USB OTG to add USB sticks and be able to transfer files and Bluetooth 4.2. It also has GPS, Glonass, and Beidou.

Another of the star features of this phone is that it also has NFC to make payments via mobile and FM Radio without the need for the internet.

And even though this terminal is not a very thick phone, it has a 5150 mAh battery with which we should have no problem getting to the end of the day (even playing). There may be people who can go up to a day and a half or two days without charging it since, as I have verified, it optimizes the battery very well.

The charger comes with it with 2A output with a charging power of 18W. After several tests (I don’t know if it is because it is a new terminal), the first half hour has charged 29%, finishing the charge in 4 hours.
